Example of Amtech engineered solution for pump system automation and modernization.
The Project
Location: Big Creek Water Reclamation Facility (WRF), Fulton County, GA. Upgrade of 200 HP and 35 HP pumps integrated with the latest PLC & HMI system in the influent pump system without interrupting pump operation.
The Problem
The existing ATL system was outdated, resulting in high maintenance costs and high motor inrush current. Mechanical shocks damaged piping and the existing PLC & HMI system was obsolete. The challenge was to efficiently control pump operation with varying water flow and changing well levels.
Our Solution
Amtech replaced existing motor starters with an Amtech Drives VFD Engineered System for 200 HP and 35 HP pumps. Installation and commissioning were completed without plant shutdown. Power cables, conduits, PLC, HMI, and instrumentation were also upgraded.
The Result
The system now operates smoothly and efficiently with reduced motor inrush current. Electrical and mechanical wear has been minimized, water hammer effects eliminated, and overall system downtime reduced.
